START-UP HELP FROM THE EXPERT: Online training concept
in pilot project CASE STUDY: VITERO IN USE AT MOTUL
Whether transmission oil, engine oils, brake fluids or even products for industrial applications – MOTUL offers everything to keep the mobile world running. The products are sold through car dealerships, repair shops and specialist retailers, and the technical trainings have so far been held there in face-to-face meetings. The company is constantly working on optimizations and innovations to meet the requirements of the international market. For MOTUL, the customer and his needs come fi rst. In order to get the information to the customer faster and more effectively, MOTUL has decided to offer a part of the appointments online. After getting to know each other in a free test session, MOTUL decided to implement the project with vitero.
Competence development
From the beginning, it was important to MOTUL to use the opportunity to build up their own competencies in the f i eld of online communication. For this reason, they decided to start the cooperation with a pilot phase. Important to them was the support and assistance in building up knowledge on the subject of online communication as well as the fast and competent implementation of individual requirements. Without the targeted collaboration, the development of the current platform would have taken too much time for MOTUL. The pilot phase enabled the project partners to get to know each other intensively and MOTUL‘s requirements could be brought together with vitero‘s experience as an online communication expert.
Pilot phase – testing in the application
The five-member project team consisted of the three MOTUL employees Blerton Shala, (Technical Trainer), Markus Volkart (Business Development Manager) and Thorsten Wiegand (Key Account Manager) and two employees from vitero‘s customer service department. At the beginning, the project goal was jointly determined, and the fi rst steps were initiated. In the jointly prepared kick-off, the concept was presented to a larger circle in order to create acceptance for the change. The vitero staff provided methodical and didactical as well as technical advice. The event was a success and the management could also be convinced and impressed. „We can defi nitely recommend a pilot project with vitero, because right at the start of the project the complete range of functions of the platform could be included in the planning,“ says Blerton Shala. „Right from the start, the advantages of vitero inspire could be used and also sustainably anchored in the new training concept.“

Interactive and personal
The online training sessions were intended to convey the personal character and interactivity of the face-to-face sessions. Despite the transfer to the online world, the proximity to the customer should not be lost. The simple organisation of the trainings and the sustainability of the concept were also of primary importance. Here, vitero was able to convince with its many years of expertise and a cooperative partnership. „We received very professional and goaloriented support all the way through. All of our open points and requests were addressed and implemented promptly,“ Markus Volkart summarizes.
Establishing a sustainable concept
During the pilot phase, the content in the MOTUL online training materials was supplemented with interactive elements (e.g., ambience, effects and queries). Based on the jointly developed content, two additional online training presentations on products and applications were compiled. The online training offer will be further expanded on the basis of the materials and knowledge developed.
Further joint path
Meanwhile, the pilot phase has been completed. MOTUL has decided to enter into a long-term cooperation with vitero and has acquired a license. In order to spread the concept internationally, the results will be presented at the MOTUL conference in the Netherlands. The long-term goal is to roll out the developed concept company-wide. „We are currently still benefi ting from the ideas of implementing and transmitting content with vitero. In the future, this will certainly continue to be the case and therefore we are looking forward to further ideas, improvements and new features.“
